Auctionsy exists because most "deal" sites are just relisted feeds with no judgment behind them. We wanted something closer to a knowledgeable friend who's spent too many evenings watching auctions close.
Every week, our editors look through active listings in a handful of categories — vintage audio, watches, home goods, collectibles, electronics, and outdoor gear — and flag the ones that stand out for fair pricing, seller track record, or genuine scarcity. We call these our "lots." We're not affiliated with any single seller, and inclusion in our ledger isn't for sale.
Alongside the lots, we write guides on the parts of online bidding that don't get explained well elsewhere: how proxy bidding actually works, how to sanity-check a "vintage" claim, and where the real costs hide in a listing. We update the guides when we learn we got something wrong.
We look for three things: a price that holds up against recent comparable sales, a seller history that matches the category being sold, and a description that's specific enough to verify. Listings that fail any of those checks don't make the ledger, no matter how good the headline price looks.
